This Fast And Furious Toyota Supra Is The Perfect Tribute That Explodes On The Drag Strip

Throtl created a version of the Supra from Fast And Furious, with a host of visual and performance modifications to make it a king of drag strips.

Remember the wild, orange-colored Supra from the 2001 superhit The Fast And The Furious? Driven by the late Paul Walker, this iconic Toyota Supra from the Fast and Furious franchise became one of the most legendary cars in the history of automobiles showcased in movies.

While the original movie sold for a whopping $500,000 at an auction in 2021, US-based Throtl built its version of the same car with some interesting visual and performance add-ons. The movie car was built and designed by Eddie Paul from ‘The Shark Shop’ in California. This heavily-modified Toyota Supra MK4 made by the guys at Throtl looks like a perfect weapon for drag strips.

One look at this customized MK4 Supra will bring back the memories of the epic last drag race with the 1970 Dodge Charger R/T. We took an in-depth look at this modified MK4 Supra specially worked on by Throtl and are impressed by the further add-ons this car features over the original movie car.

Design Highlights From The Original Supra MK4 Movie Car

For the tribute car project, the guys at Throtl took a 1994 Toyota Supra MK4 as the base car. It is widely referred to as one of the best cars for tuners due to its immense potential for mod jobs. This particular car is the limited-run TRD version which came with a cool vented hood – the same seen on the Supra from Fast and Furious. Painted in a ‘Candy Orange’ paint derived from Lamborghini Diablo, this modified Supra gets the well-known ‘gladiator’ decals from Troy Lee Designs.

A more detailed look at this modified Toyota Supra MK4 will make one notice the additional efforts put in by Throtl over the original movie car. It gets a different body kit from Speed Wells, making it look edgier and more aerodynamic than the Supra from Fast and Furious. It also gets TRD-style pockets in the fenders.

It matches the similar triangular shape on the hood from the TRD version, which was not in the movie car. This car also gets the yellow-colored roll cage, motorsport wheels, and the massive 72-inch APR aluminum rear wing from the Supra driven by Paul Walker in the movie.

While the movie car had fake bits like faux carbon fiber stickers all over its interior, this tribute to the Fast and Furious Supra gets original carbon fiber all over its dashboard. The driver’s cockpit also gets a big monster gauge from Haltech. Throtl also removed the audio system and focused on raw power, unlike the movie car, which was bestowed with amplifiers and subwoofers. The boot of this car houses the twin blue-colored nitrous oxide bottles.

Why Throtl Built This Tribute MK4 Supra As A Drag Car?

When ‘The Fast and the Furious' first came out in 2001, the Toyota Supra from the movie looked all old-school, with a slew of gauges and pods placed all over the dashboard. All those bits made the interior very busy and cluttered, with the only modern bit on that car being the flip-out head unit. Throtl wanted to give a modern touch to that iconic MK4 Supra without compromising on the soul and its intention of being a drag car that is both fast and furious.

The elimination of all the old-school gauges was the first step taken by Throtl, which gives the car a much cleaner look on the inside. Throtl also confirms that the engine of this Toyota Supra MK4 retains all the components of the original powertrain except the HC system. Unlike the extensive use of plastic in the modified cars from the early 21st century, this Supra gets steel braided hoses and PTFE hoses for the fuel system.

To be one of the coolest and most wicked drag cars made ever, this modified Supra MK4 gets a Rywire Standalone engine harness, Haltech Elite 2500 ECU, custom-made valve head covers, and Dash 10 breathers. The powertrain also gets a compact Garrett G-Series G42 turbocharger and direct port nitrous injectors with six individual foggers tucked under the engine manifold. The addition of a twin-plate clutch sourced from Clutch Masters, a carbon fiber drive shaft, and a big buff axle kit make this Supra ready for tearing out drag strips.
